Diaz’s book, José Montoya, named Gold medal winner

Dr. Ella Maria Diaz’s second book, José Montoya, was named a Gold Medal winner in two categories in The 23rd International Latino Book Awards: Best Biography (English) and Best Arts Book. According to the International Latino Book Awards, “the Awards are now by far the largest Latino cultural Awards in the USA,” with 276 finalists in 105 categories this year. Dr. Diaz is an associate professor in the Latina/o Studies Program & Department of Literatures in English, interim Director of Graduate Studies for the Latina/o Studies Program, and a Faculty Fellow for the Latino Living Center. José Montoya, Volume 12 of the A Ver Series with UCLA's Chicano Studies Research Center, follows the career of artist and activist José Montoya by "utilizing oral histories, archival, and digital humanities research."
